I have a board with a DB25 connector for I/O. How should I connect to it?

Male (plug) DB25 connectors are used primarily for quadrature inputs on our quadrature decoder board. They are subminiature D connectors with 25 pins in two rows. They mate with female (receptable, socket) DB25 connectors on connecting cables.
