Q10012 Using differential inputs with single-ended sources

Tags: Help, DAP, sampling, differential, connections

Applies to: All DAP models with differential inputs

I have strong single-ended signals driven by amplifiers near my sensors. I want to use an xDAP system, but it has only differential inputs. Can I "split" the differential channels and use each side independently?

No you can't split the xDAP differential inputs. They are integrated into the differential amplifier electronics, which are always differential.

However, this doesn't restrict you from using the differential inputs with your single-ended signals. Connect all of the differential "- input" lines to a quiet, common signal ground at a reference point close to your signal conditioning amplifiers. Then connect your single-ended amplifier signals to the "+ input" lines going to your DAP system. This works fine.
