Additional Support

Some newer generic GNU/Linux distributions no longer provide libraries used by the 'daplog' software (available on the DAPtools Software CD) and the 'iDscDev' software. If you encounter 'missing library' errors, this distribution can provide suitable copies of the libraries and construct the symbolic links needed to access them.

Version notes

  1. The Accel32 Server and Accel64 Server are for PCI boards only and are not compatible with the PCI Accel Drivers for Linux (PCIDAPS), also downloadable here. The Accel32 or Accel64 file contains the Accel32/Accel64 Server for Linux binaries, the installation script and all the other files needed to use the Server and develop applications. The download file includes installation instructions.
  2. Accel32 Server, v. 3.00: This version was posted March 2016. This release is expected to be the last Accel32 for Linux product supporting 32-bit hardware platforms and Linux kernels from the 3.XX series. This code has been verified to work with Linux Mint 17 Quiana on a version 3.13 kernel, and with Fedora 23 on a version 4.2 kernel. The code has been compiled using the GCC / GCC++ 4.8 compilers. View the Readme file for more information.
  3. Accel64 Server, v. 1.00: This version was posted March 2016. This is the first release of a new Linux support product with multi-architecture 32-bit ("x86") and 64-bit ("x64") platform support for Linux kernels in the 4.XX series. It is likely that this software is back-compatible with many of the later version of the Linux 3.XX kernel versions and tool sets, but there is no assertion or guarantee of such compatibility. If this release does not work with older 32-bit Linux distributions, the Accel32 for Linux version 3.00 release will remain available, and that will be much more likely to be compatible with the older systems. This code has been verified to work with Linux Mint 17 Quiana on a version 3.13 kernel, and with Fedora 23 on a version 4.2 kernel. It is expected to remain compatible with the entire 4.XX kernel sequence, but check here for future updates or patches. View the Readme file for more information.
  4. Accel32 Server, v. 2.00: This version was posted July 2015. This major release provides a number of internal changes to conform to new requirements for PCI device configuration and mutual exclusion in the 3.XX Linux kernel, after elimination of the "blocked" ioctl() kernel system functions and the "Big Kernel Lock" lock_kernel() function. This code has been compiled successfully using the GCC 4.5 and GCC 4.8 compilers. View the Readme file for more information, including some new secondary features.
  5. Accel32 Server, v. 1.04: This version was added December 2010. Compiling the kernel driver code requires the version 4 'gcc' compiler. This release includes variants that should work with any 32-bit version 2.6 Linux kernel through version 2.6.35. Distributions using kernels newer than this might use an incompatible compiler or kernel build configuration. This Accel32 Server software has been compiled and tested with Suse 10.2, Knoppix 6.3, Fedora 13, and Fedora 14 with Linux kernel 2.6.13, 2.6.31, 2.6.33, and 2.6.35.
  6. Accel32 Server, v. 1.03: This version was added March 2006 and updated to v. 1.03.1 June 2007. It is expected to work with all 2.6.x kernels. It has been tested on distributions built on Linux kernel versions 2.6.18, 2.6.13, and 2.6.11. Support only is offered for these three distributions and not for any kernel older than 2.6.11. This release supports the version 4 gcc compiler.
  7. Accel32 Server, v. 1.02.1: This version was added January 2004. It updates the software to include support for kernel 2.4.21 distributed by SuSE 9.0. As in the previous version 1.06, released June 2003, this release supports RedHat 9.0 Linux and the version 3 gcc compiler. No functional changes from previous versions.
  8. Accel32 Server, v. 1.01: This version was added November 2002. It provides a pre-compiled binary for SuSE 8.0 with Linux kernel 2.4.18 running on a uni-processor machine. This release supports recompilation of the driver for Linux 2.4.x kernels built with gcc 2. No functional changes from previous versions.
  9. Accel32 Server, v. 1.00: The Accel32 Server for Linux download provides pre-compiled binaries for single processor Linux kernels 2.4.2, 2.4.4, 2.4.8 and 2.4.10. The installation will automatically pick the right version for the target system or recompile the server for the target system if a precompiled one is not available (provided the target system has all the required development tools installed).
  10. ACCEL PCI Driver, v. 1.06.1: This version was added January 2004. It updates the software to include support for kernel 2.4.21 distributed by SuSE 9.0. As in the previous version 1.06, released June 2003, this release supports RedHat 9.0 Linux and the version 3 gcc compiler. No functional changes from previous versions.
  11. ACCEL PCI Driver, v. 1.05: This version was added November 2002. It provides a pre-compiled binary for SuSE 8.0 with Linux kernel 2.4.18 running on a uni-processor machine. This release supports recompilation of the driver for Linux 2.4.x kernels built with gcc 2. No functional changes from previous versions.
  12. ACCEL PCI Driver, v. 1.04: The Linux kernel 2.4.x release download supports the 2.4.2, 2.4.4, and 2.4.10 kernels. It also it provides support for you to re-compile the driver for your target 2.4.x kernels (single- or multi-processor) if you have the required development tools installed on your machine.
